Sondra Davoren
Elected

School Name: Cashmere Primary Te Pae Kererū School Profile Number: 3310 My name is Sondra Davoren and I am standing for the Cashmere Primary Te Pae Kererū School Board. I have two young children: Digby, who is in Year 3 at Cashmere Primary, and Hank, who will start there in early 2024, so I am very invested in the continued success of the school. My background is as a lawyer, and I have worked for the McCabe Centre for Law and Cancer, and Cancer Council Victoria (Australia) since 2009, in a range of different legal roles. Currently I provide strategic advice for the Centre’s international capacity building work, supporting government lawyers in low- and middle-income countries to use the law for better cancer prevention and care. The focus of my work is improving access to cancer care, and the rights of people affected by cancer. Having worked in the not-for-profit sector for over 14 years, I have a set of skills that I believe would be useful on the school board. I have experience working with governments and in grant-funded projects, and navigating the challenges of limited resources, as well as skills in writing and communication, stakeholder engagement, leadership, and business development. I also recently completed a Master of Laws, with a focus on health law and human rights. Working for organisations dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer on people, families and communities has provided me with an opportunity to apply my legal training in a way that has a tangible and positive impact on so many people. With this background, I hope to contribute to the continued growth and excellence of Cashmere Primary Te Pae Kererū.

Jonathan Stephen Skinner
Elected

My name is Jono Skinner, and I am excited to be a candidate for the Board of Trustees for the governance of the Cashmere Primary Te Pae Kererū. With 15 years of experience in the construction industry, specialising in financial and project management, I am eager to bring my skills to support the school's staff and management to create the best possible environment for teaching and learning. I am from a family of educators, my mother a Deputy Principal, my father a school caretaker in his semi-retirement and my wife, Amanda, a Deputy Principal prior to beginning our family and so the education system has been a significant aspect of my life. I therefore place great value on our children’s education and having Levi (Y2) & now Freya (Y0) at Te Pae Kererū I am highly motivated to positively contribute to their place of leaning. I have loved being a part Levi and Freya’s learning journey so far and it would be a privilege to be given the opportunity to contribute further by joining the board. The previous board has established stable an exceptional governance-management relationship and I am committed to continuing this success and ensure that our school remains a thriving and nurturing place for our children and staff. My approach to governance is founded in teamwork and collaboration. I believe a team approach that considers the breadth of experiences and perspectives of its collective total is what gives an organisation its strength and prosperity. This strength and prosperity ensures the continued high-quality education of our Tamariki and a stable, secure organization. Thank you for considering my candidacy, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve our school community as a member of the Board of Trustees
